HARRISBURG – Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam) and Rep. Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion) announced that the Wrightsville Borough Municipal Authority received two grants totaling over $1.2 million to improve water service in Wrightsville Borough.

“I’m very happy to see these funds being allocated to Wrightsville. While many of us are choosing to stay home more consistently than we otherwise would due to COVID-19, our water and sewage systems are incredibly important, perhaps more so than ever,” said Gillespie. “These grants will go a long way toward rehabilitating our existing systems to ensure efficient delivery of safe sewer water and drinking water for the people of Wrightsville.”

“Wrightsville Borough has been planning much needed upgrades to their water treatment plant and water meters for some time,” Saylor said. “These funds will help the borough improve their water system while keeping water rates low for residents.”

The authority received $1 million from the H20 PA program to upgrade their water treatment plant and intake pumping station. H2O PA was established by the General Assembly in 2008 and is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The program provides for single-year and multi-year grants for the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer projects; the construction or renovation of flood control projects; and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard unsafe dams.

The authority also received $230,000 from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program. The grant will be used to replace 526 water flow meters throughout the system to reduce unaccounted-for water loss. The PA Small Water and Sewer Program was established by the General Assembly in 2016 to award grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. The program is also administered by the CFA.
